yet another reason to learn japanese..

last night i had this really weird experience which has now motivated me to learn even more japanese. i met one of the coolest bands ever, Altan Urug from Mongolia, some of their music is at youtube. they had a great live concert, and were really nice people. only problem was they didn't speak english, so when the translator left we didn't understand each other any much. but that only lasted till they found out i could speak a little japanese, which they also could. suddenly we could actually understand each other. so the situation turned from me being the only one who didn't understand mongolian to their fan club president being the only one who couldn't speak japanese.

mountain running and todays workout

as i am still trying to figure out what i'm actually supposed to use this journal for, i'll just write some really random stuff. like about mountain running. i still remember that episode of hajime no ippo where they were training in the mountain, and learned to not underestimate mountain running. for me it doesn't really matter if i underestimate it or not, because the only road that's safe to run on in this area is a mountain road. and just to make it a bit worse it goes mostly up, it goes down in only 3 places. so every time i get to the end of that road, which would be after 2-2.5km, i'm too tired to run back again..

and what about todays workout.. running is something i started to do in the morning about a week ago, after not having done any physical
workout for over 6 months. but today i got to do something completely different, which was carrying doors. it was as many as 12 doors, and i really wonder where we're going to fit all of those in our house which looks a lot like a construction site right now. but it will soon get better, at least when the new bathroom is finished. i'm totally looking forwars to that, the old bathroom didn't even have a shower, so we used to bath in a sauna by the lake. but anyway, those doors were really heavy enough that i almost couldn't lift my arm after i was finished carrying them. i think i could get strong if i got to do this kind of work every day. maybe i should become a construction worker instead of a linguist

please fulfill my wish

not that i got any specific wish, really, it's just that i remembered this manga 'negai kanae tamae'. it's great, but also so very sad, so i think i'll read it again tonight. but first i have to figure out my new cell phone that i bought today. it's a sony ericsson w880i, which means i'll have to find lots of great music for it, japahari net, and buck-tick, and maximum the hormone, and rammstein.. maybe some of gackt's songs too, even though he's not among my favorites. (anyone know some really good music, japanese if possible?)

first step

i recently started reading hajime no ippo, after having watched the entire anime series in just a couple of days. i of course started where the anime stops, but after reaching chapter 333 today, i realized it may take me the entire summer to get through all of the over 800 chapters.. i also, for some weird reason, started to read the manga from the beginning too. ippo's so cute, and it's so funny how much the art has changed during the series. but however much time it takes i'll definitely read the whole manga, cause it's seriously one of the best series i ever watched or read. even my brother who hates long series found himself having watched twice as much at a time as he usually does without noticing.. so now i'm just wondering if it's normal for women to love this kind of shonen manga so much?
